Jill often encounters Orcas while travelling the Salish Seas. Spotting the spray from "the blow" leads to anticipation of a few whales or a whole pod. Sometimes the reward is to watch them frolic and leap as they move past our boat pursuing their next meal. This image was inspired by a huge female that leapt out beside Jill and a friend as they navigated the Samson Narrows in a tiny, open skiff. As she travels our West Coast water, Jill feels in awe and inspired by nature.
